"Don't worry about it Elenna. We've all got something that scares us. I'd like to see a bullet that doesn't hurt the human the Demon's wearing, but I don't think that's possible. Not without a dart gun and something unhealthy for demons in the darts," Caleb answered, glancing around as they entered the hospital parking lot, "When I get nervous, keep loosening my knife."

Lenna looked at Caleb in total disbelieve.

“A dart gun, are this the guns they shoot those darts at wild animals? Holy water, when the holy water is sterile it shouldn’t put the host in danger. When Raws shoots the host in the legs that should stop them from being possible to move for a moment at least.”

Lenna looked at Caleb and smiled apologetically. She shivered when she looked around on the parking lot, she did sound cool in front of the other but right now here in the dark she was scared. Not only because of the possible FBI but also of the memory of the lately killed skin walker and the fact that she knew Caleb for not even two days. Maybe he just pretended to be nice and was actually a wolf in sheep's clothing. She was glad when she saw Danila’s rental car.

“It’s the silver car over there.”

"Let's rock and roll then. You want to drive this thing? It's a pretty damn flashy set of wheels," Caleb replied, looking in the car's windows and pulling a pair of gloves from his jacket, "You got gloves? We want to leave as few prints as possible."

Caleb glanced around again, checking for anyone who even tried to look at them. Still empty.

“I am happy when I don’t have to drive it. I drove it from the dessert to the hospital and it is a horrible thing to drive compared to my Mustang.” Lenna looked at the hospital. “Caleb? We are already here, we could check out what they are doing. Maybe we find out when they move Aly.”

"Whoa. Going back into that hospital after two escape attempts - especially after a successful one like ours. Getting close to Allison's room would be ... dangerous ... to say the least," Caleb answered, leaning against the driver's side of Danila's car, "I think we should just get back to the Motel."

181 Re: Gimme Shelter on Sat 05 Nov 2011, 10:19 am

He nearly sounds scared.

“Come on. I bet the two guards are now patients so they won’t be guards anymore, if they are still alive.” Lenna winked at him. “And we need to get more information. We can’t really wait until the convoy leaves and then follow them. It would be so much easier when we know the time they plan to move her. I can go alone, and you wait here. I’ll sneak in and I’ll be back in 15 minutes. No big deal.”

Lenna looked confident at Caleb.

"Elenna ... I'll be straight with you - if they think you're trying to break Allison out, they'll kill you. That's why we're watching this place from the motel. There's no way we'll get close to the room they're keeping her in," Caleb answered, his brow creasing as he registered how determined she looked - he didn't have the energy to convince her not to try this, "Have you still got your evacuation map on you? I have an idea."

183 Re: Gimme Shelter on Sat 05 Nov 2011, 10:20 am

Yes. I should do that professionally telling the boys what to do. Hold on that is exactly what I am doing telling them what to do and they follow my orders.

“I never said it is not dangerous or simple, I just said it is possible. And yeah they might kill you without thinking twice, but I have something you don’t which might give me second to attack first. I am a girl and even FBI agents are nothing more than guys they all tick the same way.” Lenna grinned.

“Yes I have still the evacuation map. Here you go.”

Elenna had to bite her lip so she that she didn’t grin happy. She could even twist Caleb the tough Delta around her little finger.

"Well our choices are as follows. We can break into the security office and spy on them from the security cameras - we won't be able to hear them, but we'll be able to see them. Or I can hit you over the head, bundle you into the trunk and drive back to the motel safely like we're supposed to," Caleb sighed, looking the map over, "So, spy from the security office, I suppose."

Caleb performed a brass check on both of his pistols and locked Danila's car again. He sighed and led Elenna to the delivery entrance, nodding to the security guard as he stepped through.

"Hey, we're Agent Fallon's relief. Look, we've got reason to believe that the fugitives might mount another escape attempt on the hospital, so don't tell anyone we came through this way, aright?" Caleb said to the guard, looming over him, "Not. One. Word."

The guard shrugged and nodded. Caleb led Elenna through. The guard whistled sharply.

"Can I see some ID?" the guard barked.

Caleb opened his jacket, displaying his gun and ballistic vest to the guard. The rent-a-cop blinked and waved them on.

"They're getting craftier," Caleb grunted sarcastically to Elenna as they stepped into the hospital proper.

“You wouldn’t hit me over my head, you enjoy too much company.”

After they passed the security Lenna said. “See I told you this is a piece of cake, I knew as a Beta you would get us into the hospital.”

Lenna knew the moment Caleb would be angry with her making fun of he being a Delta will come but right now she had too much fun to stop. Which didn’t mean that she doesn’t respect him.

"Betas ain't got nothing on me," Caleb joked as he followed the evacuation map to the security station.

These things also served as maps for Emergency Services - every room was clearly labelled on them for rescuers to know exactly where to go. He stopped at the corner before the security office, glancing around for anyone who might see them. Clear. He nodded for Elenna to go first, then followed her down the short, dead-end corridor that terminated in the security office. He nodded to Elenna, checked for any witnesses again, and stepped inside.

Before the guard could turn towards him, Caleb had landed a punch on the base of the man's skull, stunning him long enough to wrap one arm around his neck. Caleb brought his other hand up and squeezed the blood choke together, squashing the guard's carotid arteries and cutting off the blood to his head. The man struggled for a few seconds as Caleb ramped up the force of the choke, then went silent. Caleb held the choke a little longer, then shoved the hapless guard into the room's supply closet, pinning the door shut with the room's second chair.

"Right. Recognise Allison on any of the monitors? The ICU here is covered in cameras to provide evidence for malpractice lawsuits," Caleb said, kicking the door shut and standing with his back against it.

Lenna was pale when looked from Caleb to the closet to the monitors and back to Caleb.

Maybe this was the worst idea I ever had. Maybe even worse than picking up Raws on the lonely street.

“Um...”

Lenna wasn’t sure what just happened.

“Yeah there this is Aly.”

There were just too many people around. For once, that really bothered Rome.

He normally loved people: felt happier, felt safer. If God hadn't wanted us to be social creatures, he wouldn't have given us society. And made people all so damn interesting and beautiful and...

But now it was pissing him off. Additionally because he was about to go stir-crazy from being cooped up, escorted from hotel to motel like he was Brad Pitt hiding from the paparazzi.

I'm so much hotter than Brad Pitt.

Elenna wanted to talk about him having visions again. He wasn't exactly in a care-and-share mood about the whole thing (but when was he ever?) but she deserved to know, and could probably help. Or would read her books until she could. What a girl. Anyway, they hadn't had a moment's peace alone until she walked outside with this Delta force guy she hardly knew and he wasn't allowed to go along with her. Who was going to protect her, then, huh? And since when the hell did she get so independent?

Whatever.

Also, he couldn't even talk to Rawson, who was literally seconds away from throwing punches if he didn't get to his happy place which was probably somewhere a hundred miles from any form of civilization. They were turning into a claustrophobic mess.

Rome felt bad for not trusting Georgie and Danila more than he did. They sat cleaning their weapons, idly watching TV, and being generally young and sexy, and old and grumpy, respectively. And he did trust them. They helped him save his brother, helped them take down this Skin Walker. That was great. He trusted them a lot, actually. But some things were, well, family things, private things. Most things Raws wouldn't even talk to him about if Elenna was in the room, much less people he'd only just met.

With a careful breath, Rome stood up and stalked to the bathroom. He needed to wash his face, or, you know, something. Anything. Anything that wasn't just waiting and needing to talk to people and not being able to talk to them. He dove into the cold water, bathing his face in it and resting his elbows on the sink for a long moment.

His phone rang.

"Hello?" he said without even looking at it.

“Rome we have a problem they are moving Aly NOW. Get ready, we are on our way back.”

"What? Elenna, where are you?"

Then the line went dead. She hung up...again! What had gotten into her recently anyway? Rome just turned back toward the room when he was surprised by Rawson standing behind him in the door, glaring, arms folded.

"Dude!" Rome shouted, more an obligatory what-the-hell? than an actual cry of alarm, though Raws was scary good at sneaking up on people, especially recently, and he'd always been just plain scary.

Rawson shut the door. And Rawson's eyes said We are talking. Now. And those eyes didn't come around often, but when they did, you listened to what they said.

"What are you trying to do, kill me?" Rawson growled.

"Rawson, there's no time, I just got a call from Elenna--"

"I heard. And I don't care. You are not going out there as bait, you understand me? You may be soft but I didn't think you were idiotic enough to try something like--"

Whoakay...when did this get nasty? So much for the people in the other room not hearing them. So much for the world not hearing them.

"I know what I'm doing, Rawson!"

"The hell you do!"

"We don't have a lot of other options here, Raws!"

"I see at least one good one!"

Rome's eyes narrowed. He knew exactly what his brother was implying. He knew exactly why his brother wanted to just get out of town and leave these people to their fate--again--and it was all to protect him. Rawson wasn't a coward. He wasn't even as heartless as he liked to pretend he was. Sure he cared about these people. But he cared about his twin more than anything else. If it meant backing down from a fight for Rome, Rawson would do it in a heartbeat, but never for any other reason would he back down from a fight. Most of the time this made pride and love swell in Rome's chest as Rawson showed in his own way how much he truly loved his brother.

But right now, it was just pissing him off.

So Rome folded his arms and said something really stupid:

"Goddamnit, Raws, you're such a coward!"

Rome literally did not even see it coming. Just suddenly he was slammed up against the wall, knocking a few tiles and things loose as Raws grabbed him by his collar and shoved him roughly, painfully into the bathroom wall next to the sink.

Classic Rawson, responding with violence instead of words.

After pinning him there for a good long moment for emphasis, Rawson, who wasn't going to actually hurt him, let him go and backed away, but didn't stop fixing him with a glare.

Rome stared back. No way was he going to lose this staring contest, even if he hadn't really meant what he said.

Lenna took a seat at looked at the monitor, trying to forgot the guy in the closet.

Hahaha that sounds so wrong.

"We should have bring popcorn along to enjoy the show. Hey Omega? Didn't you learn a lot weird stuff? What about lip-reading? It could be helpful right now."

Lenna pretended to be cool, she just hoped that Caleb couldn’t see how worried she got when she saw Aly cuffed to her bed.

"You didn't kill the guy in the closet, right?" Lenna asked quietly.

"Nah, he'll wake up with a nasty headache sometime in the next thirty seconds," Caleb answered, peering at the monitors, "I'd like to say I could read their lips, but they're too close to each other to get a good look at their faces. There certainly is a lot of 'em though. They're probably getting ready to move her soon."

Caleb scratched his chin as he eyed the monitors, looking at the one sitting closes to Allison where she was cuffed to the bed.

"I'm willing to bet he's overseeing the whole operation. We let him see Rome, and he'll take the bait," Caleb stated, jabbing his finger at him.

View user profile

191 Re: Gimme Shelter on Sat 05 Nov 2011, 10:23 am

“You really can read their lips, or could? You gonna have to teach me that. That is something I always wanted to learn, but when I got Rome to be my guinea pig he start makes faces and that not really help to practice and Raws had never the head to help me with things like this. I can be glad they taught me Morse code, which is really handy to talk without anyone hearing it.” Lenna smiled.

“We should go back and tell the others to get ready?”

Lenna looked away.

“I still don’t like the idea of Rome being the bait. Just a few days ago he was in custody of the FBI. Something I don’t want to experience in near future again. But he never cares what I think about he being the bait, so whatever.”

I wonder if he cares at all, for me. They left to suddenly, he didn’t even fight me when I said I stay here and then they come back without a word of explanation. Not even for me. Maybe the Remington/Fee time is over. Maybe it is time to move on after all they know now enough about hunting to survive without me.

Lenna had her phone in her hand but didn’t move to call she continued watching Aly at the monitor.

"I'd put that down to his own hastiness. He's very ... up ... you know what I mean? Always buzzing. Like an eight-year-old on a sugar high. I reckon we should pass on the message and get back. Nothin's ..." Caleb drifted off as the agent nearest Allison uncuffed her and another two agents started moving her to a wheelchair, "S***! They're movin' her now. Let's get that message sent and get Danila's car back to the Motel."

Caleb was turned and halfway through the door before he finished, stalking along the security station's corridor until he reached the intersection. He gestured frantically for Elenna to hurry up as he stepped out into the corridor, eyes searching anyone nearby for signs of being a Fed.

193 Re: Gimme Shelter on Sat 05 Nov 2011, 10:24 am

Lenna just had a second to smile.

Eight-year-old on a sugar high. True.

She hurried after Caleb constantly turning around to check if anyone followed them. How much she wished right now they would fight something supernatural and not just humans. She feels bad in uses her powers against humans, but against supernatural thing is was normal, she would even care that it is not safe to use her powers in front of strangers.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Lenna picked Tramp in her speed-dial, he picked up after the second ringing. Maybe he did care for her?

“Rome we have a problem they are moving Aly NOW. Get ready, we are on our way back.”

She didn’t bother to let him say hi or ask any questions and just hung up after she let him know the needed information. Right now was not the time for small talk.

Holyfield stood from his seat and uncuffed Wesson from the bed. He motioned for two agents to move her to a wheelchair and cuffed her to that once she was set down reasonably comfortably. He motioned for the agents to get moving. They formed up around the agent pushing the wheelchair, all ready for action as they passed the agents scattered through the hospital to watch for anyone else trying to break Wesson out. He wasn't going to risk losing both prisoners.

195 Re: Gimme Shelter on Sat 05 Nov 2011, 10:25 am

Caleb had to resist the urge to draw his gun as he led the way back to the delivery entrance, striding past the security guard from earlier with a curt nod. He stopped, raising a hand to signal a halt to Elenna too. Two men were circling Danila's car, inspecting the windows and kicking the tires. Caleb tapped Elenna's shoulder and pointed her to the one nearest the car - he was small and scrawny. Caleb got himself ready to deal with the bigger man on the right. He started walking again, clearing his throat loudly as he approached the men and the car.

"Can I help you?" Caleb called to the big one.

"Yeah. Is this your car?" the Fed asked.

"Yes," Caleb stated.

"A car matching this description was linked to an escaped fugitive in the area. We're gonna need proof of ownership," the Fed answered, taking a step towards Caleb.

Both Caleb and the agent froze. He was one of the men guarding Danila's room. Specifically, he was the one Caleb had choked out, and he seemed to remember Caleb.

Both reacted at the same time. The Fed went for his gun - still fastened in its holster on his belt. Caleb brought his elbow around to catch the man's jaw, staggering him back to the perfect spot for a kick to the groin. His steel-toe-capped shoe connected with a comforting thump, doubling the agent over. Caleb followed that with a punch to the neck and then a knee to the agent's face before he could catch a breather. He ended the fight by pounding the Fed's head against the car's doorframe until the poor bastard lost consciousness.

Caleb hoped Elenna had dealt with her man too.

196 Re: Gimme Shelter on Sat 05 Nov 2011, 10:26 am

Lenna had a second to worry that this time the agents just shot them. But she finally could be some use. She didn’t look like anyone who could be dangerous so the second agent didn’t take her serious.

Big mistake boy.

She walked with a shy smile to the agent, pretending to be a good girl.

“We can make this easy, just come...” He could finish his speech that she just should come with them and it will be all cleared. She would have bet that he would mention to call her parents. When Lenna was close enough she kicked him in the groin, he dropped on his knees. She spun around and with a quick move she took his gun from the holster and released the magazine from it before she tossed it under a car. While she was standing with her back to him, she elbowed him in the face. She was quick but not quick enough; the agent got up and punched her right in the face. Her head felt as it would explode but she wouldn’t be that easily defeated. The agent grabbed her arm and twisted it behind her back. She took a deep breath and kicked with all her strength against the knee of the agent. Lenna could hear the knee cap pop out of its place. The agent let her go and went down. He wasn’t able to stand up again.

Lenna checked her face in the window of the car, a bloody nose and lip and she will have a black eye, and her left arm did hurt but no major damaged. She had a proud smile on her face when she looked at Caleb.

Not bad girl, Rome will freak out as soon he sees me but not bad.

"Not bad, Elenna. We'll get you some ice for that back with the others," Caleb stated as he unlocked the car and slid into the driver's seat, turning the key in the ignition and pulling carefully out of the hospital parking lot.

He skidded into the motel parking lot, all but standing up on the brake pedal to bring the car to a halt near his pickup, Georgina's Audi and Elenna's Mustang. And a Camaro he assumed belonged to the brothers Remington. He hopped out of Danila's car and headed straight for the stairs, stopping to check Elenna was doing alright after a few steps.

198 Re: Gimme Shelter on Sat 05 Nov 2011, 10:29 am

Lenna was trying to clean her face while she followed Caleb.

“I am fine, don’t worry Caleb. Just trying to look better so that Rome not totally freak out. I am normally not the one who get’s beaten. That is more the boy’s part of the job.” Lenna grinned.

Lenna let Caleb open the motel room door and stepped after him in side. As soon Georgie saw Lenna she gasped loudly. “Twix Elenna, what happened to you?”

“We had some complications, but I am fine.”

Georgie’s shouting let Danila turn to Lenna, she blushed when everyone in the room looked at her. Lenna walked to the bathroom door, from where she could clearly hear yelling of her boys.

“I wouldn’t go in there they are yelling at each other since you left.” Georgie warned her.

“They won’t kill me, I’ve heard them to often yelling at each other. That is their way to say I love you.” Lenna said smiling while her nose was still bleeding.

Rawson was grinding his teeth as they stared at each other: his tell, ever since they had been old enough to learn not to show pain (so, for Rawson, about age 3), that his feelings had actually genuinely been hurt. Sh*t, I really pissed him off. Bad move, Rome.

Rome softened at that, and blinked, looking away, backing down. He licked his lips and tried to speak, but Rawson raised his hand. In such close quarters, Rome flinched, expecting a fight, but Rawson only shook a finger in front of his nose warningly.

"You're fracking determined to be the death of me, aren't you?"

"No, Rawson, I just wish..." Rome couldn't finish the sentence. He didn't know how. He didn't know what he wished. "Look, I know you're not a coward, Rawson, and I'm sorry..."

Rawson snorted derisively. "As if that's what I'm--"

"I'm trying to apologize here!"

"You want to apologize to me? Stop always trying to be the f*cking hero, Rome! Because you're not! You're just Frodo F*cking Baggins caught up in something that is way too huge for you!"

"Oh, and what, you get to be Aragorn? I can take care of myself, Rawson." So it was back to this. "Last time I checked, I was in the Marines, too, you know. Just because you went and turned into an assassin while I was getting mind-raped for a couple months, it doesn't mean..."

"Don't bring that into it, Rome..." Rawson warned, grinding his teeth again.

"Well? You keep trying to convince everyone that you're dead inside since your brother's "incident." That's all nice and romantic, Rawson, and I'm glad you care enough about me that my almost-death hit you hard, but news flash: I'm back now! You can drop the cold hard killer act! I know you care about me, and I appreciate it, but you're closer to a padded cell than I am these days and that's really fracking saying something!"

"This is about my job, isn't it?"

"Yeah, Raws, it's always been about that!" Rome shouted back, realizing suddenly that Rawson's mercenary work had been bothering him since day one, and now that he was pissed off seemed just as good a time as any to bring it up: "I'll stop trying to play a hero once you pull your conscience back out of your ass and try using it again!"

A loud knock at the door startled them both.

Maybe it is not their normal fighting. This sounds serious

Lenna stood shy on the other side of the bathroom. Of course she had heard what they had argued about, she would be surprised when not the whole town had heard them. But she was a little desperate. Even though she was sure that it was nothing really badly hurt she wouldn't let any of the stranger look at her closer to check.

Don't be mad at me for hanging up earlier. Please don't freak out too much and please don't think it was Caleb’s fault.
