1 Issue Outline: March of Mephisto on 28th November 2011, 22:17

Here is the plot outline for the first Project Angel adventure. We’re ready to go anytime, but I’d prefer to hold off the official start until we have at least three players.

Issue Name/Theme Tune: March of Mephisto (Kamelot)

Character Focus: None or all, depending on how you look at it.

Plot Outline (Warning Spoilers)

1. For varying reasons, each character is either in or near Bellevue Hospital Centre.

2. The hospital is attacked by a group of Brotherhood mercenaries under the control of the post-human Renegade.

2.1 The merc’s take hostages in the main clinic. Not that much of a problem for a group of superheroes.

2.2 Track Renegade through the hospital. When we catch up with him instead of fighting he tries to talk, explaining he is tracking anomalies in the Inhibitor system. Before he can elaborate further, another post-human, Cannon, bursts in and attacks, badly injuring Renegade.

2.3 After defeating Cannon we retreat before the Enforcers arrive and regroup at Mark’s place.

3. Follow the leads we’ve been given. I can’t really elaborate these yet as they’ll depend on how things have gone, how many characters are involved, what can be tied into backgrounds etc.

4. Fallout from 3.

5. Post-humans across the world begin rising up and attacking, causing mayhem and destroying PHMA’s headquarters. Thankfully by this stage we have enough evidence to concluded that a post-human is using the Inhibitor chips to control all other post-humans.

6. Discovering the location of Mephisto’s headquarters, we break in and confront him, hopefully defeating him before he gains control of the world. This fight will be made more interesting if any players have Inhibitor chips still fitted.

Fingers crossed that we’ll get a few more players soon.

I’ve also drawn up a summary list as it is quite a (stupidly) detailed setting, so the minimum of what characters would know is below. More info can be found in this topic.

It’s the future

Most electricity in this time is provided by solar powered energy crystals

The Brotherhood: Religious nutjobs, split into several smaller cells. Some hire themselves out as mercenaries.

Inhibitor Chips: Devices planted in the back of the neck into the spine. Disable most super-powers. By law all post-humans (super powdered individuals) have to be fitted.

PRISM: World wide, hi-tech police force.

PHMA: Regulate (oppress) post-human activities.

Enforcers: Elite, power armoured agents of PHMA.

I described the game to BA as "a gritty world, but with usually more silver-agey campy heroes" and she may join on as a "Marilyn Monrobot: rockstar by night, superhero by day"!!

Also, just a question: I'm assuming Dirk's already gotten his inhibitor chip removed, has quit the Red Sox, and is now a cop/costumed hero. But if it's more interesting, he could be at the hospital to *get* the chip removed? Or he could be there taking his son to get his chip removed? Or one of the kids to the hospital for another reason (broken arm, other various harmless way kids injure themselves). Does it matter, even?

Yeah, that about sums it up. Traditional super-heroes mixed with cyberpunk.

Not sure about the name though, conjures up images of a fat Red Dwarf robot.

As for Dirk and the hospital, I think the origonal idea was that he was going there to meet a contact in the resistance, who would turn out to be Mark. But there is no reason why that couldn't be combined with any of the other ideas. Up to you which one to go for. Having his kids there could be... interesting.

So gonna have 7-year-old Scott Rogers along with. Will be at the hospital to get his inhibitor chip removed, but we'll discover over the course of events that the inhibitor chip never actually inhibited anything (whether because the chip malfunctioned, or the kid has some extra anti-inhibitor power is up for debate).

Ok, once the huggy stuff is done between Mark, Jennifer and Dirk, we’ll move back on and reach the main foyer where the hostages are being kept. There, Mark will come up with a plan (shock horror), but for course at some point when we go through with it something will go wrong. I suspect young Scott may try something foolish. And then get caught.

And once we’ve dealt with those mercs, one of them will blab about Renegade, so it will be back up the stairs we go!

An i think we might want to give one of the goons some cybernetics, so the fight isn't over in one blow.

Ok, so there is one big door in our way. And as this is a PHMA facityiy, it isn't just going to cave in for us. So i think some cleaver team use of powers is needed to get past it.

Once it's down i'll introduce Renegade. He'll try and talk, though of course you may not listen...

I feel like I should wait on posting in MoM for two reasons:

1. What do we do with Renegade? SHould we question him? Should we take him with?

2. Wait for Richard?

Okay, three:

3. I'm really not sure how we all get into an enemy base in the freaking sky....unless Mark has the X-Jet lying around? Wink

3.5: Hmmm...A scene just popped into my head where Dirk commandeers a police helicopter for a Missing-Persons search (which isn't a lie!) but that seems sorta ridiculous...

1. Oops, forgot about him. You might be able to learn a little more if you question him, but not that much (it's mostly suspisions rather than facts).

2. That depends. Nick, do you think you'll be free to post?

3. X-jet hmmm, you know i could wrangle that in, tricky though. No more rediculus than the missing person helecopter. Hmm, anyone have contacts at the airport?

Wait a bit, Renegade is telekenetic. He could give you a lift, if you trust him?

I think we could be in a don't-trust-him-but-need-him situation? But do I really want to RP through questioning him, especially if he doesn't know much? Not really. Maybe Richard was interrogating him while our family was disfunctioning?

Aaaaactually, I like the idea of using Renegade. One because his character's already been introduced and we sort of have to do *something* with him, two because a plane seems a bit...loud to be using in a covert reconnaissance operation.

I am making a concerted effort to say F*ck you to work for at least a few hours so I can have time out and post this evening YAY!

Hmm Richard may be able to know someone in the covert community with access to a Black Chopper, as in stealth and silenced rotors etc, after all Ares has pulled less out of their arses in the past... no the future.. no... Argggg

You know what I mean JC. Brian O'conner perhaps? If you remember him, but then I seem to remember that He didn't know shade was alive but may have been working for the resistance itself for some time.

Thoughts?

I think the current plan is to use renegade, as he's already there.

However, as you've been the one left with him while everyone else argued, i think the idea can be richard's.

However, the whole Ares thing could be useful in getting some toys to help while you're up there.

As for ol' brain, he's working with the yakuzza at this stage, if i recall correctly.

Hmm I don't remember the triads playing nice with the yakuza at any point in time past present or future, so maybe Richard especially should stay far enough away from that contact for future timelines safety!

Getting into Futura isn’t going to be too much of a problem, given the whole Inhibitor thing they aren’t expecting a group of airborne infiltrators. And the base itself is currently above the city, so it is local.

Once inside you’ll need to deal with the usual secure building problems; cameras, electronically locked doors, guards etc. The guards, though well armed and trained, are no match for you lot, except in large numbers or with the element of surprise.

Eventually you’ll find more information on the people hired. Most are assigned to the base, some (such as Jane) have been re-assigned elsewhere, and as you don’t have anyone skilled in computer hacking, I think, you won’t be able to find out where for now. But you will discover that once hired they were all transported from a private airfield, the same airfield where the black market delivery of Inhibitor chips was going to take place.

Lady Kiara’s charrie Tatiana Alexandrovna Romashkova may be joining the game during this stage.

However, despite getting the info, you won’t be able to make a quick exit, as at this stage you will be discovered/bump into the supers who are still aboard. Hence, Epic Super Vs Super battle. What powers your opponents have is up to you (say, one opponent per charrie). During the fight the base will be critically damaged and start to crash. It will either crash in the bay, or need to have its course adjusted to land in said bay.

This is mostly so Jenny and Mark can have their first proper bonding moment when Mark saves Jenny from drowning.

Current plan:

Those on the base find important but encrypted files.

Steal the files by copying to usb sticks, ripping out hard drives etc.

Group bumps into Lady Kiara's charrie

In true superhero fasion, FIGHT! Razz

Guards show up in responce

As do some mind controled supers

BIGGER FIGHT

Bases power plant becomes damaged

Base starts to fall out of the sky

Jenny falls out of base, lands in water, is saved by mark.
